First post

My first post to my blog.
This is for my current projects in progress and those things I’ve worn.
I wore my lime green shell and blue cardigan. I haven’t technically finished the blue cardigan, it still needs a button (maybe, I can’t decide). I went to my little knitting group with my former students tonight. It was just Lisa, Amy and I. I’m hosting the next time, they don’t seem to be knitting as much as I thought they would, but then again they are still new – must remember that!
Current projects
1. Jaeger Incense sweater in Jaeger Odessa yarn
Started October 19, 2001. I was so excited to work on this sweater because the yarn was new at the store. I finished the back in no time, then I got distracted with a KidSilk Haze sweater and Christmas gifts for family. After Christmas, I just didn’t feel like working on it. Then Mary finished it and it motivated me to finish it. So I finished knitting it and got the raglan sleeves sewn on. I wanted to wear it to the TKGA convention and didn’t get it done, so I figured, I would wear it in New York, it still didn’t get done. So I figured I would wait until I got back from Kansas to work on it and then Grandma died. I decided this past weekend to block it and I’ll sew it together soon. Since it’s been so warm, I have no motivation to sew this together.

2. Bouton d’Or Marine Dress & Bonnet for Peyton, Micki at work’s granddaughter in Dale Svale yarn.
I started this enthusiastically on February 24, 2002. I wanted to get started because it was making me money. I’m charging $175, she paid me $85 first off. Then I went to the convention, to New York and then Kansas and I got some done during my traveling, but not as much as I would like. I worked on the collar in Kansas. Friday, April 12, I crocheted the bottom of the little dress. I started the hat in the car driving from Hays to Kansas City on April 7. I finished it on April 10 and knitted the little i-cord for the top on April 12. It’s adorable. April 16, I crocheted around the collar. Now I’m struggling – forcing myself to sew the collar to the dress. I need the $85, I need to have it to Micki by Monday!

3. Glint from Rowan Magazine 30, Rowan Kidsilk Haze yarn
Loved this yarn! I had to buy it so I bought it! Mom, Susan from the store and Mary helped me pick out which yarn I should get – so I got the lime green and blue. I started the sweater on October 28, 2001 and got about 4 inches done in the first day. The back took me forever! I finally finished the back in March. I started the front on April 12. I haven’t finished the first blue stripe yet.

4. Toe-Up Socks using Bonkers Homemade Originals pattern and yarn.
Started March 18, 2002 – stayed home to knit because I was so excited from the convention. I got to the heel the first day, hated the way the short-row heel looked, so I ripped it out thinking I would find another short-row heel that looked good. Stayed home on April 16 and realized that I had been knitting the heel wrong. There is a difference between p2tog and p2tog tbl! I got to the ribbing on the calf yesterday. Today, I was knitting a bit in the car because of the crappy traffic – the mock cable is looking really cute.

5. Maggie from Rowan Magazine 31 using Kidsilk Haze yarn doubled
Started March 28, 2002. I feel like I’ve been working on this for a while. I bought the yarn when I bought the yarn for Mom’s Summer Tweed. I am knitting this on the Bryspun needles. It seems to go in spurts, but I think having this dress for Micki hanging over my head is making me want to work on everything but the dress, so my knitting has been very scattered. I also have so much that I want to work on!

6. Top in Fisherman’s Rib from Rebecca 22 using GGH Boboli
Started April 9, 2002. I bought this yarn exactly one month before I started it. I couldn’t figure out the pattern. The pattern stitch didn’t make a bit of sense. I decided to look at my knitting books and look at the stitches to see if there was something similar to the pattern stitch. I found it in the Big Book of Knitting as the Shaker Rib. Woo-hoo! I got a lot done in the first few days and now I’m not that excited about it. The yarn seems to snag a bit like pantyhose and it’s not as soft as it feels on the ball. I’m sure it will be nice to wear.

7. Britanny Jumper by Minnowknits #130 using Dale Svale yarn for Holli’s little girl
Started April 14, 2002. I had to start this! I want to make this so bad and once I get past the lacy part, I think it will be good because it’s just basic knitting! I need some basic easy knitting right now. I started the lacy part on Sunday and it was a bit frustrating so I put it down. I need to finish the Marine dress first.

8. Moo blanket from WeeKnits Too for Becky’s baby
Using Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece and Anny Blatt’s Veloute.
I started this Monday, I want this to go quickly. I had to deal with my fear of intarsia and just follow what it says to do in the books. I got several rows done now I don’t know if I should have several bobbins or what. I’ll ask tomorrow at Knit Night.

I’m not starting anything new until I get the Marine dress done and the Odessa sweater sewn!
