Bryan & the yarn store

I took Bryan to the knitting store Sunday, November 17 and he met all of the knitting girls. He also got to see the store and pick out yarn for his hat. I figured since he doesn’t have any hair on his head he might want something soft and snuggly. He ended up picking out the Kashemir Anny from Anny Blatt in a greenish color named Bronze. I started Bryan’s hat on Sunday, November 17 and finished it on Thursday, November 21. I gave it to him last night. It looks really nice on him. I’m sure he’ll really appreciate the cashmere that is in the yarn.

I saw Brandi on Thursday and was happy to see her wearing her scarf, hat and mittens. :) She said that her mittens are really warm.

I finished the back of the Jo Sharp “Rebecca” sweater and am about 2/3 through the first sleeve.

I’m really starting to feel the holiday crunch. Here are my gifts that I’m giving and their progress:
Already completed Susan’s scarf, Brandi’s mittens and Bryan’s hat
Anne scarf - I have 7 more lace pattern repeats on the Anne scarf out of 9 before I finish the entire scarf. I can do a repeat in about 1/2 hour, so I need to just make myself work on it.
Barbara scarf - I have 2 lace patterns completed and I don’t know how many I need to do. I just started the Barbara scarf not too long ago and I think it will be easier than the Anne scarf to do quickly.
Garter Rib scarf - A free pattern that I got from the yarn store that has gone very fast. I started it on Saturday evening and I am about 1/3 through the first one. I have another one to make in this same pattern.
Felted Bag - Haven’t even started yet

I’m still working on the Glint sweater. I haven’t worked on it much in the last two weeks. I really want to get the Christmas stuff done before I delve too much into my own stuff.

Happy knitting and stay warm!

knitting while sick

I gave Brandi her mittens last night. She loved them. I took a photo, but don’t have it on my site yet. I will get it posted soon!

I was home sick for several days at the end of October. While I was sick, I started a sweater named “Rebecca” from the Jo Sharp Hand Knitting Book 2. It’s really pretty and the yarn is amazing - it’s Jo Sharp’s Silkroad that is wool, silk and cashmere. It’s very yummy yarn! I finished the front in about four days. The pattern has you start on the front, which is a bit unfortunate because the front is the most exciting. I guess I could have done the back first like I do with every other pattern, but I didn’t. I started the back on Wednesday night and am a few inches from shaping for the armholes. I hope to get it done soon.

I was inspired on Thursday evening, so I’ve made myself work on the Glint sweater in the Kidsilk Haze. I’m about three inches into the first sleeve. The project has already taken me a year and I would really like to finish it before the end of the winter, so that’s my goal. Whether or not I finish it by then is not that big of a deal. I just want to wear the sweater! :)

I am about 2/3 of the way through the first lace panel on the Anne scarf. I’ve had to rip out several times because I’ve made a very visible mistake in the pattern. I think this is the hardest lace pattern of the three that I’ve chosen - Susan, Anne and Barbara. I haven’t started the Barbara scarf yet, but I bet it will go a bit faster than the Anne scarf as I know the pattern quite well from working on the shawl.

When I finish the Jo Sharp sweater, I think I’ll seriously start on the Norsk jacket because it will be a good mindless knitting project, hopefully. :)

Happy Knitting! And stay warm!
