Maybe I’m being too hard on myself, but I’m starting to be a bit embarrassed by the fact that I have 12 projects going at once. Granted several of them haven’t been worked on for a while, but I’m starting to feel overwhelmed. I just find so many things that I just HAVE to knit! :) I have SO many projects going that I feel the need to prove here that I am actually working on them!
My new New Year’s resolution should be to get my project count into the single digits! I think if I took off all of the socks that are taking me a long time to make. I seem to suffer greatly from one sock syndrome. So maybe after my trigger thumb surgery, I’ll make a point to finish one pair of socks before I start another pair. My toe-up socks out of Bonkers yarn didn’t take me that long so I should finish those after I finish the Regia socks. My poor Regia socks are going to turn 2 years old on February 4 and they still aren’t finished. I have to knit another inch on the foot and then do the toe decreases. I wish that I could knit them on two circulars just to get them finished but I don’t want to take the time to learn how to knit socks on two circulars. I feel like doing that is cheating, for some reason. I wish my thumb didn’t bother me so much. It’s really tempting to take a bunch of ibuprofen and just bite the bullet and knit the stupid socks. I really want to wear them! But alas, (sob) I will be a good girl and not hurt my thumb any more just to finish a pair of socks. :)
Okay, back on the subject of my millions of projects. Let’s see what I can get done in the next two months.
1. Obviously, the Anny Blatt “Rosier” sweater and dress since the new baby is due March 8.
2. Barbara scarf. I’ve finished three pattern repeats in two days. This is just a matter of me sitting down and working on it.
3. Lang twinset. I’m slowly but surely plugging along on this. I seem to be making more progress each day that I work on it.
I’ve just revamped my listing of works in progress so that it doesn’t look like I’m working on 9 gazillion projects at once. :)
Progress since last post:
2 inches on the sleeve of the Lang cardigan
1 3/8 inches on the sleeve of the Anny Blatt “Rosier” sweater
1 lace pattern repeat of the Barbara scarf

I finished the hat for myself last night. I started it Monday night. It’s a bit snug on my head but it’s warm, that’s all I care about!
I haven’t knitted on the Anny Blatt “Rosier” sweater since I started my hat. Now that I’m finished with my hat, I’ll start working on the sweater again. I needed a bit of a break from it, so my hat was a nice reprieve.
I’ve worked a bit on the Lang cardigan. I seem to have finished about 20 rows without really trying, which is a good thing. I’m working on it during my lunch break. It’s coming along slowly but surely.
I worked on the Barbara scarf during the State of the Union address on Tuesday. I got two of the seven lace repeats finished. I completely blamed George Bush for my screw-ups that I had to fix. I enjoyed making snide remarks to the tv when he caused me to mess up! :) It made it more bearable to listen to him but working on lace gave me a good excuse to drown him out once in a while. He has big plans and I just have to think that reality won’t be so good. He seems to live in a fantasy world that I don’t get. The U.S. doesn’t exist in a vaccuum, so we shouldn’t be thinking about attacking Iraq. His attempt to make the case for going to war with Iraq wasn’t made at all on Tuesday. If anything he was reading from the talking points that the administration has been repeating for a long time. I think we need to stop and think before we act because it could come to haunt us several times over if we decide to just go after Saddam. Also policing the world is NOT our job. That’s why the UN exists! I don’t disagree with the fact that Saddam is a big jerk, but we can’t just decide we don’t like someone and try to take them out!
Stepping off my soap box now.
I’m done with January classes now. In February, I’ll be teaching three nights a week. Mondays are beginning classes for three weeks, Tuesdays are intermediate project and Wednesdays are advanced project. I really like the fact that my classes are set based on the calendar, so I know that I have new classes starting the first full week of each month.
Bryan is working this weekend so I hope to get some good knitting in and update my knitting pages. I have a ton of images to put up, so hopefully they will be up to date!
I won’t be finishing my socks for a while. I have to have surgery on my trigger thumb (how annoying!) so I need to cool it on the double pointed needles for a while.

I finished Bryan’s hat in about three days. He said it’s really warm but it’s a bit scratchy. So he’s been wearing the cashmere hat under the wool hat and everything works great.
The Anny Blatt “Rosier” sweater is coming along well. I’ve finished both front pieces and started the first sleeve yesterday. This little sweater has been so fun to work on that it’s basically all that I’ve worked on for the last two weeks.
I finished the second front piece of the Lang cardigan and have about six inches of the first sleeve finished. I would really like to get this cardigan finished so that I can wear it this winter. I think I just got a bit tired of it, so the baby sweater has been more appealing.
I have adjusted the pattern to start Karla’s sweater so I think I might start it this weekend, since Bryan will be working all weekend.
I have to get an injection on Wednesday, Jan. 29 for my trigger thumb so I haven’t been able to finish my Regia socks. Once my thumb stops popping I think I’ll make finishing the socks my first order of business! I have another inch or two and then I shape the toe. It’s not much but it’s too painful to work on socks with my thumb popping. They would be really nice to wear in this cold weather!
The Barbara scarf is still being worked on. At least, I’ve started the lace pattern on the second side. It’s taken me a while to get the ribbing done because I was kind of tired of it after Christmas. I should work on that so my mom can wear it this winter. My, I’m good at trying to get a ton of things done at once! :) At least, I have several projects that aren’t far from being finished - the Regia socks, the Barbara scarf and a hat out of the Rowan Magpie that I started for myself last night. I’m about 1/3 of the way through the hat already, so I should have it done by Monday. I should also update my knitting pages on my website. So that’s another thing to add to my list!
Since tonight is the Presidential State of the Union Address and I plan on watching all of the stuff leading up to the address and the analysis afterwards, I should get a lot of knitting done tonight. Maybe I’ll just work on the Barbara scarf tonight since I won’t have to be watching the tv, I can just listen to everything and pay attention to the lace work. :) Let’s see how far I get.
With that, have a good rest of the week!
Happy Knitting!

I finished sewing the Jo Sharp “Rebecca” sweater on Wednesday night. I was so proud to wear it yesterday. At Knit Night I got a lot of compliments. :)
I definitely got the rhythm for knitting the Anny Blatt “Rosier” baby sweater because I finished the back of the little sweater and am half way through one of the front pieces. It’s going so quickly that I’m going to make the little dress that goes along with it, too. :) The Grenadine yarn that I choose looks so great, not too girly and really fun.
I’m close to the toe on the Regia socks! Finally! Working on it little by little makes it go faster instead of feeling like it’s dragging on and on.
It’s really freaking cold in Chicago and has been for more than a week. According to the forecast, it’s supposed to stay cold and get even colder. Since the hat for Bryan made out of the Cashmir Anny isn’t warm enough for the really cold weather, I’m making Bryan a hat out of Rowan Magpie. I started it last night because I want to get it to him while it’s still really, really, really cold! It’s going really fast because I’m knitting it in the round. I’m about a 1/3 of the way through already.
I’ve been slowly working on the Lang cardigan and am shaping the armhole for the second front piece. Knitting about 10 rows at a time is also making it go pretty quickly. I just want it done so that I can start on something else. I’m making myself finish it before I start any more sweaters for myself.
I need to start the sweater that Karla is paying me to make for her.
Have a great knitting weekend! If it’s cold where you are, it’s a great weekend to knit.

Last night was Knit Night.
I finished the left front of the Lang cardigan last night. I sewed the left shoulder seam as soon as I finished the front piece. I followed the pattern for the neck shaping and it looks bad. I think tonight I might rip out the neck and do it so that it looks good. There is just something about it that doesn’t look right. I started the right front piece last night before I went to bed. Today at lunch I knitted about 10 rows, so I’m still working on the ribbing of that piece. It took me five days to finish the left front, so I figure that’s how long it will take me to finish the right front.
I really want to finish the Jo Sharp “Rebecca” sweater this weekend! I think tomorrow afternoon when I go to hang out at the shop, I’ll take whatever I haven’t finished sewing with me, so that I can get it done this weekend.
I knitted about two rows on the Anny Blatt baby sweater. It’s going to take me a while to get a rhythm for the bottom part of the sweater, but it will be SO cute!
Have a good weekend. If you knit - I hope you knit a lot this weekend!

I received the yarn for the Jo Sharp “Rebecca” sweater on January 2 and worked on it a lot to finish it at about 2am (January 3). I blocked it on January 3. Sunday night, January 5, I sewed one sleeve to the body. I haven’t sewn anything else because I’ve been knitting so much.
I finished the back of the Lang cardigan Sunday night. I’m almost finished with the left front. I still have to do the right front and the two sleeves. I thought I had lost the pattern again, but it was just buried in a pile of papers. It’s what I’ve mostly been working on. I want to get a few things done before I start anything new for myself.
I used my Christmas gift certificate to buy yarn to make the “Martha” sweater in the Rowan Magazine 28. I’ve always liked the pattern and it’s made out of the Felted Tweed. I bought a really pretty deep blood red tweed - “Conker” to make it! I have to finish the Lang cardigan before I can start this sweater though.
I have about half of the foot of the second Regia Jacquard sock finished.
I started the little sweater for Shannon’s new baby on Sunday night too. It’s going to be REALLY cute!
