in the mail

What great friends I have. Yesterday a wonderful package came for me in the mail completely unexpected. Oooh aaah! I received this wonderful fiber. It’s Raspberry Slush from Amie. It’s 50% white Dorset wool (the sheep lives in the Philadelphia Zoo) and 50% Burgundy/Red mohair/wool blend. How cool to receive a part of her carding experiment. Thank you, Amie! The kitties thank you too for the new smells. They keep sticking there noses in the bag. Now I just need to figure out how to repay you.

So how is the sock coming along? Well, it’s going fabulously. The heel is done and I’m working on the cuff. I would offer you a photo of it on my foot but my camera batteries died as I was taking the other photo. So I instead give you a scanned version of the sock. I’ve decided to experiment a bit and put cute little cables up the leg, unfortunately you can’t see them very well in the scan. The best part of doing toe-up socks is that I can make the cuffs as long as I like. Though knee socks are tempting, I might get sick of the cable pattern before I get there. I certainly have enough yarn, I think I have almost half of the ball left. And some more good news. I have an interview on Friday for a mentoring position at the other library in town. It’s a temporary position so wish me luck. This would be in addition to the shelving position I already have.

Even though I’m not participating in the Knitting Olympics, I thought it was interesting that it’s made news on PRI’s The World.
