not sure
The Moderne Baby blanket is coming along fabulously, it’s turning out beautifully and the Lorna’s Laces solid colors all have slight variations in color that are just magnificent.
The Cat’s Paw shawl is nearly complete, it just needs a border around the bottom.
My original intentions for May for my Knitting Almanac were to work on American Aran afghan squares, instead I’ve decided to focus on the various baby projects that need attention. I might even throw in another shawl too.
I’ve done a bit of spinning in the last few weeks and I just noticed that the yarn I’m spinning is very much in the same color family as the baby blanket.
The last week or so, I’ve been really struggling with whether or not I want to continue to write a blog. I don’t know if it was the five year mark or seeing that I’ve written over 620 posts or if it’s just spring fever? Part of it is feeling like I’m putting myself out there and getting very little response. Are people getting tired of reading blogs? Recently I read in American Libraries, a magazine put out by the American Library Association, that there are about 250,000 abandoned blogs. My original reason for blogging was to share what I was working on with other knitters, then it became a personal journal and recently it’s again become more of a place to share my projects. It’s a time of transition around here and I’ve been doing a lot of thinking anyway as I’m preparing to go to graduate school and have accepted an assistantship at a library on campus. It’s a very exciting time and also a bit scary as Bryan and I embark on another chapter in our lives.

What’s going on with blog-doubt? I think it’s contagious; I just read another of my regular reads and she said the same thing! I’m not going to tell you to keep blogging if you don’t want to any more, but I do read your blog every time you post. Maybe I (as one of your readers) should be better about leaving comments.
If it makes you feel any better, I have similar issues about not getting many comments on my blog too.
That baby blanket is coming along so nicely, and it seems like a relatively quick knit for a baby blanket… I am seriously considering making one.
And I continue to be in awe of your spinning. My fiber & drop spindle are at the bottom of my closet…

congrats on scoring an assistantship. that’s great news.
i too have lost the yen for knit blogging. sometimes it just has to take a backseat to the other things going on in your life. knitting, while still an important part of my life, is being generally overshadowed by other things happening in my life now too. i do hope you decide to keep blogging. .. maybe just take a blog-break? if you don’t though, i hope we can keep in touch via email!

I read your blog every time you post, too. I hope you continue to write, but taking a break as you absorb all the changes in your life makes sense. I love the baby blanket, especially that it’s not the usual baby “tones.”

I too am interviewing in Champaign of May 4th for an assistantship in the conservation department! What position did you accept? I am so nervous- I really want this position very very much. Great job getting one for yourself! No tuition!! Hurrah!

I have just discovered blogs and this is the first one that I can really see how to respond. Maybe there are a lot of other readers out there that are consistently coming to your blog, but not leaving comments.
I am finding it hard to remember where I have been and where I saw something of interest. I can imagine that one can have a whole bunch of saved url’s in no time flat!
I decided that I’m not going to learn to blog, not enough time. I am just going to have a BLOB page on my website and do info there, that way I don’t have to follow rules!!
Just my opinion!

First time I like the modern baby blanket. Must be the colors/yarn you choose! Very nice!

Life changes. You’re going to be very busy. You will continue to knit, do other creative things and maintain your library assistantship (congrats on that btw!) but your main job is going to be scoring a 4.0 in each course you take. I would miss checking your blog weekly but would you have a better use for the time you spend blogging? Then again, if you just made one posting a month… What a decision! I wish you well and look forward to upcoming posts.

In my life, things have occurred that make blog reading difficult to keep up on. There are a few I try hard to get to (yours is one) but I feel like when I do get back to being able to just sit and read them, so much has happened, it’s hard to keep track!
I was in your neck of the woods this weekend, but figured you wouldn’t appreciate a call. Travel snafus had me taking a red-eye flight through O’Hare at 5am. Nice airport.

I think I’ve been feeling the same thing you have. It’s not that I haven’t wanted to blog, but I just haven’t had as much time/energy/motivation to sit down and right. I think that happens a lot when you’re in a transitional period.
Maybe we’re all just in one big transitional period.
