a long while
It’s been a while since I posted. I’m still alive and am very busy with school, my practicum at the local public library and my assistantship. I started on Sunday but it didn’t feel appropriate to lead off with but you can read it here (by clicking the “View the rest of this entry…”), if you so desire. I was having an extremely analytical evening the other night and that’s when I wrote it. While I’ve been busy with classes, I’ve managed to finish my tweedy vest (photos to come soon). One of my assignments for my Media Literacy class this week was to find a favorite YouTube video. I have several and have managed to somehow while away an hour here and there browsing through YouTube videos. Here’s my favorite and I thought you’d all enjoy it. You thought that library school was all about learning about library service and library theory, obviously there’s more to it.
My friend Dorie, who is an amazing quilter has three quilts that are part of an exhibit in New York. They are so adorable and so inspiring. I truly admire her work.
Originally written on February 10 - Some days I have a hard time getting out of bed not because I’m having a bad day but because I love my bed and sleeping so much. Ask my
husband, I’m horrible to get up in the mornings.
Lately, I feel like I’ve been just floating through my days probably because I haven’t had a day off in about three weeks. Between classes, my practicum at the public library and my assistantship, I’m going almost constantly. Being this busy was great for a few days then I started to feel like I haven’t seen my friends in weeks. I had to miss my knitting group this week because I really had to get some school work done. Lately, I’ve really been lacking in the inspiration department. Yes, I’ve been sporadically knitting but it was really nothing to write about. Friday evening I finished my tweedy vest and I’m planning to wear it Monday. Sometimes I think a lot of our inspiration comes from places that we don’t even think about. That was my first thought when I read about Dorie’s quilts being part of an exhibit. She’s not originally from the Midwest and has found such beautiful things in the Midwest that a native, like me, just sees as brown. There have been the beautiful sunsets that are few and far between lately but they are greatly appreciated when I see them. If there has ever been a time that I think I really need to stop and notice the beauty around me it’s right now. Yoga in the morning helps me feel more centered but it makes me long for spring. Winter used to be my favorite season but the cold and lack of sunlight in eastern Illinois have changed that for me. Winters feel long and harder than they did when I was a kid. I know I’ll never be able to live anywhere that doesn’t have the wonderful change of seasons but this winter seems to be dragging on. It does give me a good excuse to stay in and read when I do have some time off. To say I’m looking forward to the beauty of spring is an understatement.
I’m truly looking forward to this weekend. For the first time in almost two years I’m taking a spinning class. My wheel has been greatly neglected in the last six months and I’m hoping that this silk spinning class will spark my interest again in spinning. With limited time, I’m sure it will be a while before I’m knitting and spinning as much as I was last year at this time.

Oh sweetie - this shall pass I promise. You’re very very busy but you’ll finish up soon and then you’ll get your snuggly winters back. You’re just apprenticing right now and you know how much work they have to do.
Sending you sweet happy knowledge that you’re getting where you want to go.
hugs a bunch
