About

Cat
My name is Erica. I’m 34. I live with my husband Bryan in Champaign, Illinois. Before moving here in August 2005, I lived in the Chicago area for more than five years. We met through my website. Bryan emailed me when he found that I had a band named “Juned” listed on my website. He had just ordered a cd by “Juned” and was looking for information on the band when he happened upon my website. He emailed me when he realized we had a lot in common - musical tastes, books and we’re both vegetarians. I emailed him back thinking that it was some random person emailing me. We met for dinner (”a sort-of dinner date, but not a date”) at Chowpatti Vegetarian Restaurant in Arlington Heights, Illinois. We’re both vegetarians, I’ve been a vegetarian since November 1991. (Don’t ask
me if I eat fish. The answer is no! :) The only things I eat that are animal related are dairy and eggs. I’m a vegetarian for my health!)

I started knitting my senior year at KU in 1995 and have been knitting almost ever since (I had to take time off for carpal tunnel surgery and trigger thumb surgery, of course). I’ve made a ton of things. I’m a knitting teacher at high school continuing education program and a park district. I’ve also recently gained an interest in spinning. In April 2005, I bought my first wheel - a Lendrum DT (double treadle) and now am the proud owner of an Ashford Traveller. I love spinning. It’s so relaxing and quite spiritual in a way that knitting isn’t.

For a while I crocheted and made two afghans and several doilies. I’ve also been into card-making and scrapbooking. I started a scrapbook about Bryan and I not long after we became engaged in February 2003.

I have two bachelor’s degrees. My first bachelor’s degree is from the University of Kansas in Social Work in May 1996. My second is Computer & Information Systems from DeVry in Chicago in June 2000. I’m working on my third degree a Master’s in Library & Information Science.

I love to read! I have quite a few fave books. My recent favorite book is The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. I loved that book and recommend it to everyone. I also love films, my favorites are Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Garden State and Party Girl.

Fave bands/artists include Metric, Throwing Muses and Kristin Hersh, Tori Amos, PJ Harvey, Stars and Portishead.

I’m short–4′11″ to be exact.

I live with two very sweet but ornery cats who let me live with them as long as I take care of them. George, I adopted him from an animal shelter in April 1997. And Chloe, I also adopted from a shelter three months after I adopted George. Chloe and George are great friends and enjoy tumbling around my apartment at all hours of the day and night.
There are two cats at my parents’ house. Milly, who I got her for my 17th birthday was originally my kitty. She’s one of my other babies, but can be a real snob at times. And Lucy, a silver-tabby Persian. My mom totally spoils all of the pets like crazy. :) Since it’s only my mom and dad and the pets at home with my sister and I out of the house.
